when I was halfway through this illustration I went over to the tweeter and showed it to my moonland friends

who were all amazed that leon looked so good in kyouko’s clothes

and i was like i suspected this but also leon has exceeded my expectations

Dreamselves! I finished this at 4:13 AM on the dot.

All of them except Gulcasa’s and Nessiah’s are based on existing dreamself outfits (the trolls’ have some interesting variations). Nessiah’s is a little more personalized in the same way that Fef and Kanaya’s are. Gulcasa’s is based on the clothes he wears under his armor in Blaze Union! And shoes are everyone’s text colors.

It wasn’t intended this way when I started working on these outfits, but this ended up being a more or less accurate representation of characters’ heights!

1 is the kind of thing I usually draw Leon in. The hoodie from 2 is this really awesome armor shirt! His shirt on 3 should probably be white (and also he ought to be wearing a white bowtie), but Leon is a maverick and does what he wants, so there. (I really just wanted him to have an all-black tuxedo, and I like the waistcoat/tailcoat style better than the cummerbund.) The ace of spades pin he’s got on his lapel is an alteration of a Matsuda Miho pendant.

As for his Knight jammies, Leon’s aspect (Truth) isn’t canon as far as we know, so I was able to design the emblem and color scheme as I liked. I made the purples warm and the emblem salmon pink so that I could still have Leon in something like his canon color scheme without overlapping the cool purples of the Rage palette. I also think there is probably some Zelda influence in the emblem shape.

Even though these ref sheets were meant for me to fix outfit settings and practice drawing clothes, they’ve also kind of become body type practice! Which I am happy about because I could always use more of that.

leon would be a terrible premier, but for his part, he and gulcasa have the kind of serendipity that you’d expect to find in lurid palemance novels, and can get so sloppily conciliatory in public that most other members of their clade find them too embarrassing to even look at.
